What dosage will I need?
We will advise the best way forward and keep you informed regards the cost. We will determine whether to increase or decrease your dosage on a case by case basis, as there is no ‘one size fits all’ all policy for our patients.
What is Mounjaro (tirzepatide)
Mounjaro mimics the action of hormones. It’s a new drug that was developed originally for the treatment of diabetes but found to be beneficial to losing weight as it regulates blood sugar, and satiates appetite thereby reducing appetite and hunger pangs. The dual action of Mounjaro means some patients find this more beneficial in weight loss but your precriber will choose the best one drug for you.
What is Wegovy (semaglutide)
This is another variant of drugs used to treat diabetes. You might know this as Ozempic. It targets the brains regulatory mechanism for appetite

Does this work?
Medical trials have proven both drugs efficiency in the real world for weight loss, but it doesn’t work miracles. It is an effective and powerful weight loss aid to a lifestyle that also embraces healthy eating, smaller portion size and moderate exercise - a paradigm shift in comfort eating when you stop taking the medication. Consulting a medical professional can help you choose the right medication for you.
Are there any Side Effects?
Wegovy and Mounjaro have similar actions so have similar side effects. These are usually just temporary while your body adjusts but are often gastrointestinal. Around 1 in 10 (or 10%) of patients may experience mild and temporary side effects. Vomiting, Diarrhea or constipation are some of the side effects you might face as well as some nausea. It’s important to stay hydrated. Typically from trials people experience side effects either in the initial period of taking Wegovy or Mounjaro or when increasing the dosage. Acute gallbladder disease has occured in rare instances during clinical trials. If you have a history of gallstones without the removal of your gall bladder this may not be the weight loss treatment for you.

Increased self-esteem a reduction in blood pressure, sleep apnoea and joint pain are just some of the medical benefits, in addition to feeling more energised. It could be that simple push towards a healthier lifestyle with balanced meals and exercise going forwards.
